Let's open our thoughts to the meaning of Spring. Spring appears in many ways. Each person perceives the changes in their own special way. It is a new beginning of course. Change in the air, and in the light. It begins quietly. A sense of growth, and the promise of the summer to come. I hear the birds outside begin their songs of joy and excitement calling out to each other. Soon they will find somewhere to build a nest. They seek building material for the place where they can bring new life into the world. They search for a safe place, protected from wind and hot sun. It must be hidden away from dangers that may seek to destroy what is planned.
Looking at the ground, one can see green sprouts beginning to appear. In places where there is still a little snow, this green will need to poke its head through the frosty covering. It seems determined to create new life again. On trees and bushes there are buds swelling from branches. Oh, I hope the wind will not come before they have attached themselves tightly. How do they do that?
Children look out windows and remember the last Spring. The memories of soft new grass under their feet, after the harsh and cold winter snow. They are thinking of baseball and playing outdoors again. They look forward to the end of the school year, and the beginning of long summer days to come.
The skys seem brighter. The white clouds refect against the brilliant blue. And the sun warms the skin as the time of new life stirs. It is a new beginning. Look around and be aware of this wonderful happening! It is a gift from God.
